For the record, who's answering the interview, what is your band's name? How did you come up with that name?

PERPETRATOR

My name is Daniel Wright, but I go by Ace Slaughter. The band’s name is Perpetrator and I actually came up with it out of the blue. There’s was no specific detail that went into deciding on that name.

So who's in the band and what's everyone's life story in 100 words more or less?

PERPETRATOR

In the band is myself, Angel Oviedo, and Trevor Scott. The band started because my old band, Demon Beast, broke up but I didn't want to give it up. My senior year of high school I moved to a school where I met Angel and he wanted to play bass so I tried him out and we went from there. With Trevor, I met him a few years back while he was playing with his other band, Rise above Chaos, and he’s always loved Death Metal so I threw him the offer to drum for us; funny thing is he was originally just going to be temporary and he’s decided to be full time.

In a nutshell, please describe your sound.

PERPETRATOR

In a nutshell I guess our sound is, well, Perpetrator. We take influences from a variety of metal genres and mix it together.

Why did you each of you start playing music and was there a turning point from becoming the dream child that every mother and father hopes their child will become before discovering music? Why did music become a career choice for you?

PERPETRATOR

We all started playing because we love music. Trevor and Angel have parents that support what they want to do and don’t expect them to be something they may not want to be. My mother, however, has always wanted different for me and hopes I grow out of it. Music is a career of our choice because we love playing music, we have fun, we are good at it, and if you aren't doing what you love then it isn't a career

What instruments do you each play? How did you learn to play, self-taught or school?

PERPETRATOR

I play guitar and do vocals, I was completely self-taught. Angel plays the bass and he was originally being helped by his other friend but I took control of that ship. Trevor does the drums, I believe he is self-taught but I’m also not certain.

What bands have influenced each of you?

PERPETRATOR

Practically every band we enjoy influences us. There are just too many to name. It stretches from Classical to Extreme Death Metal.

What makes your band unique?

PERPETRATOR

We are really young and have only been together for a year but it's like we've been doing this for years.

Do you write your own music? If not, who writes the music?

PERPETRATOR

I write all the music for the band.

What inspires the songs you write?

PERPETRATOR

Shit I actually care about and emotions.

ATP

How long does it take you to write a song that’s ready to record?

PERPETRATOR

Shoot, it takes an hour at most usually.

ATP

How would you describe your local music scene? Likes, Dislikes. What would you change?

PERPETRATOR

The local scene here needs improvement. Majority of the bands sound the same and the people don’t seem to actually want to come and support local musi

What is your favorite local venue? Why?

PERPETRATOR

The Rail Club. It’s a great venue with a great staff.

What's the biggest problem you find when working with other bands, booking agents, promoters and venues when settting up a show or a tour?

PERPETRATOR

The biggest issue is financing and transportation.

ATP

How experienced are you on the stage, a virgin or whore?

PERPETRATOR

I’m a whore, so is Trevor. Angel on the other hand is barely past virgin.
